TikTok Shop moves to category-based commission: the 'zero-fee' era is ending

From 2026 TikTok Shop is adjusting commission by category and phasing out the zero/low-fee support for new sellers. US ~6%, UK 9%.

Through 2026, TikTok Shop is shifting its commission structure to category-based rates and ending the zero- or low-commission period it offered new sellers. Per third-party guides, platform commission runs ~6% in the US for most categories, 9% in the UK, and 6–19% across Southeast Asia; in some markets a transaction fee comes on top. In short, the real cost of a channel that looked 'almost free' is becoming clear.

The message for sellers is simple: if you chose TikTok Shop for its low fee, that advantage isn't permanent. Test the channel on your own product margin, not on the zero-fee lure — a product that still leaves profit once the commission applies is the one that belongs there. If you sell across multiple marketplaces, line up what the same product nets per unit on TikTok, Amazon and your local marketplace; let the channel decision come from net math, not hype. (Rates are from third-party sources; confirm exact figures in TikTok Seller Center.)
