Walmart expands delivery service with Dunkin' Donuts integration

Walmart now allows customers to order Dunkin' products delivered alongside their grocery purchases, following a similar partnership with Subway as the retailer moves into the restaurant delivery market.
Walmart has launched a new delivery option enabling customers to order Dunkin' Donuts items through the same checkout as their grocery shopping. This integration marks the retailer's expanding push into the restaurant delivery space, following an earlier partnership with Subway. The move positions Walmart to capture incremental orders and increase customer stickiness by bundling convenience goods with ready-to-consume meals.
This strategy reflects a broader shift in US e-commerce, where traditional grocery platforms increasingly bundle QSR (quick service restaurant) offerings to compete with specialized food delivery services. Amazon Fresh, Instacart, and other players have similarly begun offering restaurant meals alongside groceries. For Walmart, the Dunkin' and Subway partnerships represent an attempt to replicate the omnichannel convenience that draws repeat orders and extends wallet share.
For sellers and fulfillment operators, these integrations present mixed signals. While third-party Dunkin' franchisees and similar partners gain distribution reach, the logistics layer becomes more complex: same-day delivery of both ambient groceries and temperature-sensitive prepared foods requires cold-chain infrastructure and tighter timing windows. Food category sellers on Walmart's marketplace may also experience margin pressure and shelf-space competition from these integrated restaurant offerings. Longer term, this suggests Walmart's platform strategy increasingly mirrors Amazon's approach—layering services to reduce customer friction across categories.
