Walmart has partnered with Dunkin' to offer coffee and food delivery through its e-commerce platform, following its earlier Subway integration as the retailer pushes deeper into restaurant delivery.

Walmart is broadening its e-commerce offering by allowing customers to order Dunkin' products directly through its platform alongside grocery purchases. The retail giant has struck a partnership with the coffee chain to bring beverages, donuts, and breakfast items to its marketplace, extending a strategy it began with Subway earlier this year. The integration marks Walmart's growing ambition to compete in the food delivery segment—a space traditionally dominated by third-party logistics apps.

The convergence of grocery and food delivery represents a significant shift in the industry. Platforms such as DoorDash and Instacart have expanded from their original focus into omnichannel models, and major retailers see an opportunity to capture consumer spending across multiple categories without yielding commission to competitors. By embedding restaurant delivery into its existing marketplace, Walmart can leverage its 150 million-plus monthly active users as a distribution channel, increasing order frequency and customer lifetime value while reducing reliance on external delivery platforms.

For sellers and restaurant operators, being available on a platform of Walmart's scale opens access to millions of potential customers; however, platform fees and technical integration requirements warrant careful evaluation. Regional chains and independent operators may view this as a growth opportunity, yet they must also navigate increased competition for prominence on the platform. Delivery quality, order accuracy, and real-time inventory management will become competitive factors in this environment.
